- Run sample files: ** There are 3 sample files called
- ** "Pie", "Bar" and "Line".
-
- 1. Place the work-copy into A: drive.
- * Not needed for hard disk user *
-
- 2. Run GRAPHICS.COM by entering "GRAPHICS".
-
- 3. Run Z-GRAPH by entering "ZG".
-
- 4. Use F1 key to read through HELP messages.
-
- 5. Press F3 key to load in one of the files.
-
- 6. Press F2 key to draw the chart.
-
- 7. If you have an IBM graphic printer (or the equivalent)
- then you can print the chart onto your printer. Hold down the
- Shift key and press the Prtsc key (right under the Enter key).
- And you should see the chart printing by now.
-
- 8. Examine the location of each title on the chart and try to
- match their corresponding field on the menu. Then pressing
- any key (except the Shift-Prtsc key) will return you to main
- screen.
-
- 9. Look at the upper half of the screen (where fields are in
- reversed video). You are free to change any related field and
- redraw the chart. By comparing the result of change you can get
- a better understanding of the meaning of each field.
- (changing those unrelated field won't make any difference to
- the result).
-
- 10. Repeat from step 5 for other sample files.
-
-
- ** If problem arises please check this manual or on-line Help for more

- The Z-GRAPH menu above can be divided into 3 areas.
-
- 1. Graph spec area.
- The upper half of the screen, where you see asterisks (reversed video on
- the monitor), contains fields for specifying the chart you want.
-
- 2. Data area.
- Those numbered line (1-12) are the data area. Column A,B,C and D are
- for up to four different sets of data. You may have up to 12 data values
- in each set.
-
- 3. Data entry and Message area.
- The 25th line is used for entering data to the data area within column 1
- and column 12. Then follows the message area for all messages.
-
-
-
-
-
-
- Graph spec area:

- To move from field to field you may use Tab or Back-Tab. However, there
- are three other conditions that will also move the cursor to the next
- (or previous) field:
- 1. The Enter key will move you to the next field.
- 2. When you go beyound the last position of a field.
- 3. If you use left arrow key while at the first position of a
- field. This will act like using Back-Tab.
-
- *** Data is not received by the program until cursor been moved to another
- *** field. (With one of the way described above)
-
- Within parenthesis are valid data range for that field. So you don't
- need to memorize them.
-
- Only the Graph Type and the leftmost Column graph type are checked for
- valid data. If you type in anything other than "P", "B" or "L" you will
- hear a BEEP indicating an error has occured.
-
- Titles and Legends are for free text. All the other fields must use
- upper case for letters. No indications are provided for invalid data,
- they simply won't make any difference to the final result.
-
- Column graph type and Legends are for the data column right under it.
- The Column graph type can be "P","B" or "L".
-
- The "-A-" column graph type is the only required field for drawing the
- chart.
-
- Data entry in the data area can be simplified by eliminating
- insignificant trailing digits. By changing values entered to be in
- thousands or in millions.
-
-
- Note:
-
- *** For combined bar and line chart, the column graph type for "-A-"
- *** column must be "B".
- *** You may draw only single-pie chart so data must be under "-A-" column.
-
-

- Data entry for this area is very much like the spreadsheet. Four cursor
- control keys are used for moving from field to field, while the value
- of that field is displayed at the lower-left hand corner of the screen.
- The field that you currently located are indicated in reversed video.
-
- The column under X Unit is for free text, only length check are
- provided. You will hear BEEP when exceeding 8 characters long.
-
- Numeric data check are provided for other columns. The "," is not
- allowed.
-
- The data you entered at the lower-left hand corner is not received by
- the program until you press ENTER key.
-
- You can use Back-Space key (the one above Enter key) to move your
- cursor in the data entry area.
